Dunno, Iiyama has a decent 40" 4k for 400-500€ that does the job for me.

Because I don't want to close the curtains (actually, I don't even have curtains currently, but assuming I did) and make the room dark whenever I want to watch TV.

Fair enough, but most HD projectors are > 3000 lumens (and start at ~400 USD/Euro) which is generally sufficient in daylight.
