It’s usually a bit more ambituois than knowing specific languages or having specific defined skills. A lot of the benefits of having more senior engineers is good judgement, which is hard to define or quantify or identify. However good judgement can have huge benefits. For example picking the right abstraction today avoids an expensive refactor 2 years from now.
