Columbus discovered America but died thinking he found a shorter route to India, he was operating with the knowledge the earth is round but did not know how big the world is
I think in this context, "faith" and "knowledge" can be considered opposites. Sort of like "opinions" vs "facts", the former can emerge from the later but not the other way around.
