Reading notes: it compiles to a VM; it’s very Lua-like. What’s the difference? Is it memory management? (In particular, if I took a variadic argument table and returned it from a function?)

Or just because it is own by Amazon and not under Free Software Licence like thus made by the free software foundation ;)
